After 22 years, history is made as Ward 3 on Cuyahoga Falls City Council welcomes its first Democratic representative. The Summit County Board of Elections has officially declared Meika Marie Penta as the victor, defeating Republican Cecilia Robart with an impressive tally of 1,111 votes (59.25%) to 764 votes (40.75%). Penta's triumph extended beyond early voting, as she secured victories in all five precincts within Ward 3. The high voter turnout of 45.26%, the highest among all Ward races in Cuyahoga Falls, showcases the community's enthusiasm and engagement in this pivotal election. Results are set to be certified on Nov. 26, sealing her well-deserved win.
In her heartfelt victory speech, Penta expressed her gratitude to her dedicated supporters, recognizing that their unwavering backing played a crucial role in her success. Eager to start her term, Penta is excited to collaborate with the city to revitalize State Road and Babb Run Park, while ensuring that Ward 3 receives its fair allocation of resources for vital road repairs and infrastructure improvements.
Penta's journey to this historic win began earlier this year when she was selected by the Cuyahoga Falls members of the Summit County Democratic Party’s Central Committee to fill the remainder of Paul Colavecchio’s At-Large term, ending on December 31. Her official role as Ward 3 Councilwoman will commence on January 1, 2020, marking a new era of progress and representation for Ward 3.
